Ruth has facilitated away days, training and planning sessions for clients such as the Refugee Council and Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership, and has helped run conferences for organizations such as Volunteering England. In 2006, tandem helped the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust set up and run three launch days – in Westminster, Burnley and Harrogate – for its new report on local democracy, Whose Town is it Anyway? (visit www.jrct.org.uk to get a copy of the report or download a summary). In 2006/07, tandem co-ordinated the JRCT Inquiry into Destitution. Tandem is also involved in project management. The Volunteering and Asylum Project, for instance, is managed by tandem with the support of a steering committee. Tandem has run seminars and training days on volunteering and asylum across the UK. Tandem also teamed up with the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health, to train refugees in sexual health and community research skills. Clients for workshops, planning days and event management include:
